The newest release from Offbreak Records comes from Melbourne disco funk outfit Superplastique. The A side is a pumping disco groove track that when combined with Dean Shannon’s falsetto vocals gives a sound that is fresh yet with a vibe that will make you think you’re in a 1975’s discothèque. The B side “Junky” is a slower funk jam that is bound to get even the most hardened funk or soul fan tapping their feet to the to the pulse created by Dean Shannon’s left hand.
The latest installment from Lyndal Barry and The Apollos “You Lied” is slick soul funk track with influences that give it a late 60’s Muscle Shoals feel. The B side “Wait a Minute” had always been a crowd favourite at Lyndal Barry shows with its pumping Motown beat and punchy horns.
